Closet Detox
With the change from the winter season to the summer season and starting again with the routine after a well-deserved vacation, I have given myself the task of organizing my closet to renew the energy in my spaces and build my outfits more easily without getting hysterical with the phrase “I have nothing to wear”. So I was aware of the whole process and decided to make a post about it and give you some important tips that will help you optimize your space and time.
Closer Pick
Step 1.- Take out all your clothes
Yes, even if it seems that a hurricane has passed through your room, you must take all your clothes out of the closet and the drawers to really know how many clothes you have and the available space where you can organize your clothes, shoes and more again.
Step 2.- Choose what goes and what stays
When you have everything out, you must organize all your clothes in 2 categories and then in subcategories:
What goes!
We always have clothes in our closet that we never wear, either because they are too small, too large, we no longer like them, they have some detail or they are simply not a trend anymore. At this point, you must be totally honest with yourself, because that blouse that you think you will wear when your love handles are not visible or the jeans that will fit you when you go on a diet, you will stop liking it when you reach your ideal weight and you will reward yourself with new clothes. So get rid of all those clothes that take up space in your closet and renew your energies in these three ways:
– In perfect condition: the clothes that you have not used much and are like new, you can sell them on second-hand clothing websites. Many people choose this option to recover part of their money, get vintage clothes or because they are in the wave of the ecological world and want the textile industry to be sustainable.
– Gifts for relatives: there is always a cousin, friend or sister who flatters the clothes in our closet. For them you can put together little gifts with things that you will never use but are in their style.
– Donation: If you want to carry out an action that helps a lot of people, you can also donate to charitable foundations. Whether it has a small detail or because it is simply from when you were little, you can bring happiness to someone else.
What remains!
After having said goodbye to all the clothes you will never wear, it’s time to organize what does stay. At this point I recommend that you start organizing as follows:
– By season: what you normally wear in spring-summer and what is more in autumn-winter.
– On hooks or folded?: There are clothes that wrinkle out of nowhere and others that you can fold without any problem. So start organizing all the shirts, sweaters, and pants you can fold and those blouses, dresses, coats, and jackets you’ll put on hangers.
